Material Types

American Metal Architectural Systems architectural structural systems can take many forms and shapes using one or more of these material types.

Screen Photo Screen (Visi-Screen, Bar Screen, I-Bar Screen, Wire Mesh and Modular Grid Panels) with its 45 degree profile has been designed to provide ventilation and line of sight solutions. Our screening systems provide the architectural look of a solid structure while providing the required ventilation and can be used in many Green Building applications. Bar Screen and I-Bar Screen have been designed for their contemporary visual presentation and facility protection. Wave Screen provides all of the solutions of our Eye Screen with a unique wave pattern that offers an architectural impact ideal for reflective motion lighting, vertical columns and cylinders. Wind Screen with aluminum flaps inside a 4 inch grid offers a screening solution that shimmers with the wind providing motion to a rigid structure.

Aluminum Composite Material Photo
Aluminum Composite Material (ACM Panels)
which is composed of two thin sheets of aluminum continuously bonded to either side of a polyethylene core. ACM panels deliver superior flatness, rigidity, strength and stability under changing thermal conditions. ACM panels can be curved, bent, easily formed, and are available in a wide array of colors and finishes offering unique design opportunities for a wide range of exterior and interior applications.

Aluminum Tubes Photo
Aluminum Tubes is a quality aluminum tubing that can be bent to any desired shape, cut to almost any desired length and used for building or any architectural application.

Architectural Membrane & Fabric Photo
Architectural Membrane & Fabric offers the advantage of a flexible building material to create new and unusual shapes, while at the time handling load stresses like gusting winds and heavy snow. The dynamic free flowing lines and versatility of this material make it a viable option for creating structures that in the past would have been only a dream. Membrane materials can be designed to be completely opaque or to allow as much as 13% light transmission providing a soft diffused light source within the structure. Our architectural fabrics are available in a array of popular standard colors or a custom color can be formulated to meet your specific needs.

Polycarbonate Panels Photo
Polycarbonate Panels is a tough lightweight material offering many advantages for a wide variety of glazing applications. Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable with an impact strength tested at 200 times that of glass. Its energy efficient, ultra lightweight, flame retardant, flexible, weather resistant and is available in a wide variety of styles and colors. Polycarbonate is an attractive application for skylights, atriums, sports halls, dividers and canopies.

Acrylic Paneling Photo

Acrylic Paneling is a durable lightweight acrylic sheet that is shatterproof, lightweight, weather resistant and machinable to form complex shapes. Acrylic Paneling is produced in a wide variety of transparent and opaque colors as well as a wide range of surface patterns. It allows maximum light transmission while diffusing the light, offering dramatic and rich effects, while concealing the original light source.

Perforated Metals Photo Perforated Metals (Aluminum & Steel) are used in a number of different applications including screening, filters, shields and guards. They can control the passage of air, liquid, light, solids and sound waves. They are also used for their aesthetics in architectural and design applications such as facades, fixtures and privacy panels. Perforated metals are available in over 2,000 patterns of round, square, slot, hexagon and decorative patterns.

Expanded Metal is manufactured from sheet metal which is slit and stretched into a non-raveling unit of uniformed openings. It allows air, fluid or light to pass through and is used in many different applications such as fencing, building facades, screens, grilles or any application with a decorative or architectural element using just about any type of metal.

Corrugated Decking Photo
Corrugated Decking (Aluminum & Steel) has developed from industrial cladding into an architectural cladding solution. It is available in a wide variety of forms with depths and spacing that vary from 1/2" to 6". It can be roll formed, has large span capabilities and is available in many standard architectural colors. Corrugated decking can also be perforated.

Sheet Metal Panels Photo Sheet Metal Panels (Aluminum & Steel) can be cut, folded and formed into many unique shapes. Often American Metal Architectural Systems provides a sheet metal panel system that provides a unique skin for your building.

Glass Photo Glass is one of the most versatile skinning materials with many options used in American Metal Architectural Systems canopies and wall sections to provide light transfer and unique lighting.

Grating is made of metal using crossed or parallel bars that allow light and air to pass through. It can be produced from aluminum, fiberglass, carbon steel or stainless steel. From industrial applications to architectural applications, grating is very versatile and has unlimited uses. Some application choices would be stair treads, floor grating, drains, walkways, platforms, fencing, handrails, louvers, screens, etc.
